Layoffs are everywhere, and if you’ve been through one, you already know the punch-in-the-gut feeling that follows. I’ve been there more times than I ever care to admit, and it never stops sucking big balls. The mix of fear, betrayal and the sudden free fall? Completely human. Here are five simple shifts that helped me regain some control: reframing the story from loss to lessons learned, pouring into others when my own tank felt empty, and learning something new just to remind myself I still could, and—hardest of all—asking for help.
