Black Media's Coverage of the 93rd Academy Awards

While we didn't come away with a lot of wins at last night's 93rd Annual Academy Awards, Black publications found ways to celebrate one of Hollywood most illustrious nights of the year.

While Variety take the award on Oscars coverage, because no one covers the Oscars like Variety, there is black media that gives it special seasoning and focuses on everything with melanin.  Take for example Essence Magazine's cover article entitled: "Oscar's 2021: All the Melanin Magic At the Awards Show" which of course put the spotlight on the fashion.

While their homepage shares an image of Tyler Perry who won the Humanitarian of the Year Award, the inside image is a clear image of melanin glory with Viola Davis sharing chest, arms and neck.

Bossip poked fun at Halle Berry's new hair cut entitling their front page article "Not the BAYANG: Halley Berry's Mini Micro Bang at the Oscars Sent Twitter into a Tizzy."

Hype Hair showed appreciation to the make up and hair dressing combo that won an Oscar for their work on Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

Although their website was absent of Oscars coverage Hype Hair's Instagram page honored their contribution to the film industry.

Ebony made us proud with their coverage and the blackest article title yet. "The Absolute Most Blackest Moments from the 2021 Oscars."

The article shared an image of Daniel Kaluuya sharing a moving reflection and embarrassing his mom in the same breath during his acceptance speech.

HelloBeautiful came with the glam, spotlighting all of black hollywood on the red carpet. In their "Red Carpet Rundown, Black Hollywood Brings the Fashion" post, editors had a good time talking about stylists creations after a year of no red carpets.

Their cover image is the first collective image that shows all of Black Hollywood on Display.
