Essence's New Executive Editor And Vice President Of Content, Danielle Cadet
Over the last decade, Danielle Cadet has dedicated her career to serving multicultural audiences and developing an expertise in the multicultural digital media space. Cadet joined Netflix overseeing editorial direction for Strong Black Lead, the company's brand dedicated to serving black audiences. Before Netflix, Cadet served as Vice-President, Content Strategy and Development and Managing Editor of R29Unbothered, Refinery29’s fastest growing Instagram channel and digital community catering to Black, millennial women. Danielle played a pivotal role in expanding, growing, and innovating the brand beyond social media. She developed a full editorial slate, including a podcast that was named Adweek’s 2020 Podcast of the Year and was nominated for a National Magazine Award. She also worked to create a pipeline generating $2 million in revenue working with brands like Toyota, Proctor & Gamble, and Target. She joined Refinery29 from ESPN where she launched The Undefeated, a site that explores the intersection of race, sports and culture. While there she oversaw the daily editorial operations as Deputy Editor.
Danielle Cadet now takes her post as executive editor and vice president of content at ESSENCE Communications Inc., leading the editorial vision for ESSENCE’s print and digital platforms.
