Swizz Beatz Graces Cover of EBONY's Fall 2023 Hip-Hop 50 Issue

What makes renowned renaissance man Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean’s moves powerful, prominent, and fearless? Of course, he makes the answer sound very simple. “I don’t do anything that I’m not into, you know, those days are gone,” he reveals. “I have to really feel something. I must really be excited. Indeed, experiencing such life-altering trials can either break you or prepare you for something bigger. For 50 Cent, “big” meant becoming the biggest freshman rapper of all time, a more prominent businessman with properties such as Vitaminwater (which was sold to Coca-Cola in 2007, subsequently making an estimated $100 million) and Sire Spirits, and with G-Unit Films & Television Inc., he has become one of this generation’s biggest TV/film producers.

Busta Rhymes Graces Cover of EBONY's Fall 2023 Hip-Hop 50 Issue

Busta’s rapid-fire verse, undoubtedly one of the fastest of all time, commanded all attention away from the other hip-hop greats onstage. The 51-year-old MC’s legendary scene-stealing is never-ending and infamous, starting with the A Tribe Called Quest classic, “Scenario,” in 1991 (“rawr! rawr! like a dungeon dragon…”). In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia—arms crossed in a B-boy stance alongside his longtime hype man-slash-bestie, Spliff Star—he stood as the embodiment of hip-hop, one of the most significant cultural exports in America’s history.

She’ll remind you to set standards for yourself. She cheers you on when you hit numbers. She dances and vibes and fist-pumps and makes deep eye contact. QiQi Hill Graces Cover of Women's Health's Meet The Forces of Fitness Issue

In late 2021, QiQi reached a crossroads. She was making more money from her social media than she was at the bank. The pandemic had changed the way many people thought about their day jobs, and QiQi felt it might be time to break away from the routine she’d expertly crafted. It took her a while to summon the courage to quit—she worried she was wasting her college degree. But ultimately, she realized that “offices and that job will always be there, but the opportunities I have now probably won’t be there forever,” she says. So she went for it, and “it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”
