—Work alongside the Editor managing the day-to-day operation of PCMag.com; this role comprises editing and story development, contributing to our overall growth strategy, and optimizing our current editorial processes.
—Head up features coverage including everything from quick-hit news-cycle reaction and analysis pieces all the way up to our monthly Readers’ Choice and Business Choice survey stories, and the deep-dive cover stories in our curated, monthly digital edition.
—Create, maintain, and continually evolve our editorial calendar and run weekly editors’ meetings to identify trends and optimize coverage opportunities across our editorial teams
—Mentor and coach writers and editors by providing feedback and encouraging professional development.
—Collaborate with our Audience Development team to help reach growth goals by creating unique, pitchable stories that not only resonate with our readers, but help elevate the brand image.
—Work with the email marketing team to create clever enthusiast newsletters that leverage the content we’re already creating to cultivate new fans.
—Work with the art, video, social media, and product teams to improve our editorial processes.
—A strong work ethic, a quick wit, and a sense of humor
—At least 7 years of editing and team leadership experience at a major publication or website (preferably with a technology or reviews focus)
—The ability to write and edit clearly and quickly. Your strict attention to detail, intimate knowledge of grammar and style, and quick ability to make rough copy shine are given.
—Proven headline writing and story packaging chops
—Top-notch organizational, project management, and cat-herding skills
—Bright ideas about how to help our readership buy and use technology, along with an aggressive plan to get those ideas implemented
—At least a rudimentary knowledge of SEO
—Experience working with content management systems, image editing programs, and Web analytics tools.
—We're located in New York City and are willing to accept applications from remote candidates, but you must be able to work our core hours of 9AM-5PM ET.
