Allrecipes' Features Editor, Bridget Olson, is always looking to commission freelance writers for personal essays, profiles, and reported features on food culture, identity, and place.

THE ATAVIST MAGAZINE SEEKS DEEPLY REPORTED, CHARACTER-DRIVEN NARRATIVE NONFICTION, CINEMATIC STORIES PAYING A $6K BASE.

The Atavist Magazine seeks pitches for deeply reported, character-driven narrative nonfiction, focusing on plot-intensive, cinematic stories ranging from 8,000 to 30,000 words. They accept submissions on a rolling basis, paying a $6,000 baseline fee plus expenses.

Stories can cover crime, science, adventure, or history and should be pitched to editors Seyward Darby or Jonah Ogles at seyward@atavist.com and/or jonah@atavist.com.

LA-BASED ARRIVED MAGAZINE IS LOOKING FOR WRITERS TO COVER THE BEST OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY.

ARRIVED Magazine's LA editor, Leila Najafi is looking for pitches of features and shorter listings covering the best of Los Angeles County for its monthly visitors' magazine. They are currently assigning features for June and beyond.

Note: This magazine covers LA County only and does not cover hotels. Restaurants and spas are acceptable.

THE TORONTO REVIEW IS LOOKING FOR PITCHES OF OPINIONATED, ARGUMENT-DRIVEN WRITERS.

The Toronto Review is looking for pitches of voicey, argument-driven work from emerging and established writers. They accept essays, criticism, interviews, and fiction — no poetry, visual art, photo essays, or lists.
