Meet Matt Young who is Joining New York Times as a Video Journalist

Happy to share that Matt Young is joining The Times as a video journalist for NYT Cooking. which is a part of the New York Times studio team, producing long-form hosted recipe videos.

Matt joins us from Wirecutter, where he produced, filmed and edited product-recommendation videos, including ones with our own Sam Sifton and Kenji López-Alt. He also managed the Wirecutter social media accounts, emphasizing cross-product collaboration with Games, Cooking and Well. Before that, he was a producer at WNBC and at America’s Test Kitchen, where projects he worked on received multiple nominations for Daytime Emmys, Taste awards and James Beard awards.

Fun facts: Matt has a knack for recognizing obscure voice talents and actors, recently noticing that the stagecoach driver in the 1939 movie “Stagecoach” was also the voice of Friar Tuck in Disney’s “Robin Hood” in 1973. He also has a deep appreciation for coffee. We’re excited to bring Matt’s production talents and eye (and ear) for detail to the studio, as well as his skill in pulling a good espresso shot.
