MOMBASA: The Earrings That Became Part of the Story
Some brands become part of your story before you even realize how special the relationship will become.
For me, that brand is MOMBASA.

In 2018, while working in Los Angeles, I introduced Angela Bassett to MOMBASA while she was doing press around Black Panther. I covered her fitting and watched as she selected pieces from the collection. She went on to wear MOMBASA earrings for many of her press appearances.

What I love about MOMBASA is that the jewelry doesn't whisper. The designs have presence. Their pieces bring together African heritage, contemporary design and the kind of craftsmanship that makes a statement.
Founded by longtime friends Regbe Surafel and Hanna Wagari, MOMBASA was created to bring African artistry into modern luxury jewelry. The brand works with materials including natural gemstones, brass, horn, sterling silver and 14K gold-filled metals, with designs created in Los Angeles and collaborations with artisans in Africa. But my relationship with MOMBASA is personal.

They have trusted me with their jewelry at moments when I was working, traveling, interviewing, producing and simply trying to look the part while doing all of it.

And that's why I wanted to introduce MOMBASA to my Stylists Suite subscribers.
Because sometimes the accessory isn't just something you put on.
Sometimes, it becomes part of the story.
