DONTAIRA TERRELL new EDITOR for Refinery 29’s “Unbothered”

Author, on-air host and freelance journalist, Dontaira Terrell is a wiz in the entertainment media business and even more revered for co-launching the revival of her hometown newspaper, The Buckeye Review, with her sister, serving as its editor-in-chief in Youngstown, Ohio. Amongst her many editorial hats, Terrell just announced her positon as editor of Refinery 29th’ Unbothered’ section that unapologetically amplifies Black female voices.

KENDRA BRYANT new EDITORIAL INTERN for Afro-American Newspapers

Let’s meet Kendra Bryan, a current student at Towson University, who is majoring in journalism and has demonstrated instant dedication, serving as the new Editorial Intern at Afro-American Newspapers. Kendra already has a distinct connection to storytelling and uplifting Black perspectives, as well as the press, coverage, and newsrooms that come with it. 

KIM JOHNSON FLODIN new DEPUTY US NEWS DIRECTOR for The Associated Press

Introducing Kim Johnson, a Californian native whose first interest was photography, but later her passion for journalism grew in college, which sparked her career. As a photojournalist with over 30 years of experience in the industry, I have worked with notable publications such as The Los Angeles Times, Newsday, and The Sacramento Bee. Now, Kim has a sharp vision and decades of experience in her new role as Deputy U.S. News director for Associated Press.

BRYAN BURKE new HEAD OF BRANDED CONTENT, at the NBA’s Take-Two Media

Introducing Bryan Burke, a creative director and marketing strategist with a passion for culture-based storytelling. A graduate of Morehouse College’s film and media department, Bryan has worked with influential brands like Highsnobiety, Ralph Lauren, Jordan Brand, and Timberland before heading the branded content department at the NBA,’s Take-Two Media brand. He has dedicated himself to crafting authentic narratives that connect deeply with diverse consumers, pushing brands to engage in meaningful and consistent storytelling.

ZETA PHI BETA GRAND BOULE

Zeta Phi Beta Grand Boulè 2025 is a gathering of one of the Black Greek-letter organizations uniting thousands of members for a celebration. This years’ Grand Boulè includes entrepreneurial opportunities, a beauty pageant and step show.

The 2025 Grand Boulè will take place from August 15 to 18 in Orlando, Florida, at the Westgate Vacation Villas.

AFRO PUNK  is a global celebration of alternative Black culture and society. Afropunk brings together music and artistry.
