Individual GRAMMY press credentials have not posted yet. Here's how music and culture writers should position themselves before that window opens.

The 69th GRAMMY Awards will take place February 7, 2027, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Nominations land November 16, 2026. But individual press credential information has not been posted, which puts music and culture journalists in a familiar spot: waiting on a window that could open with little notice.

What We Know

The Recording Academy's 2027 media company registration period ran June 25 through August 14. That stage is for outlets, not individual writers, and it has already closed. Individual credentialing typically follows later and moves fast once it opens.

What to Do While You Wait

Do not wait passively. Use this window to line up an assignment letter from an editor now, so you are ready to apply the moment individual credentials post. The Recording Academy, like most major awards organizers, favors journalists who can show a clear commission over freelancers applying speculatively.

Start drafting your coverage angle too. Nomination announcements on November 16 will generate an immediate news cycle. Writers who already have a pitch in an editor's inbox before that date have a real head start on both the story and the credential.
