From editors actively seeking great pitches, to notable editorial moves shaping the media landscape, to the award-season events opening up their credentialing — consider this your recap AND tune-up before the industry’s busiest season begins.

As we close out the year and prepare to hit the ground running in January, this week’s Stylists Suite newsletter is all about positioning yourself for the right 2026 opportunities. That’s what strategy is all about - planning ahead for what you know and what you might not know is coming.

EDITORS ON THE HUNT

December may be wrapping up, but editors at Business Insider, The NY Times, and Conde Nast Traveler are still open for thoughtful story ideas for their readers. We’ve rounded up three of our personal favorite top media outlets who are YES actively looking for smart pitches.

BUSINESS INSIDER IS LOOKING FOR FIRST‑PERSON & LIFESTYLE PITCHES

Business Insider’s lifestyle team is currently open to first‑person story pitches on topics like travel, food, fashion, interior design, unique living experiences, career transitions, and life lessons. These pitches are typically for 600‑word pieces paying industry‑standard rates ($230+).

THE LEAD (UK) IS OPEN TO FEATURE & INVESTIGATIVE PITCHES

The Lead is a UK‑based independent politics and culture magazine that welcomes freelance pitches on in‑depth features, investigations, and opinion pieces — particularly on social justice, housing, immigration, environment, and inequality. While not focused on U.S. topics exclusively, American‑centric stories that intersect UK or global policy, culture, or justice issues could be a fit.
