Fortune is hiring a thoughtful and energetic senior tech editor to grow our technology team and expand the footprint of our coverage of Silicon Valley, artificial intelligence, fintech, data privacy and more. We’re looking for an editor who can think critically about the ways technology is shaping companies, consumers, and policy and successfully lead a team to execute the biggest stories in the most interesting ways. This is a key role in a newsroom that values kindness, experimentation, and telling good stories.
- Strategize and execute Fortune’s coverage of all things tech with an eye for big-picture trends
- Determine the focus areas that Fortune will own and deploy staff and freelance resources to create conversation-starting journalism
- Build and oversee a team of reporters, providing personalized coaching for continued success
- Advance the story everyone is talking about with fresh insight
- Assign and edit breaking news, exclusive scoops, and longform reporting
- Bring a tech point of view to newsroom-wide brainstorms and conversations
- Contribute to our Brainstorm Tech conference and live events
- Collaborate with editors and writers across the newsroom on breaking news and special packages
- Ensure our coverage includes a diversity of ideas, perspectives, and voices
- Uphold Fortune’s standards of journalistic rigor, accuracy, and fairness
