Meet Gerrick Kennedy, the Writer of Men's Health Magazine's October Cover Story

Gerrick D. Kennedy is an award-winning journalist, cultural critic and author living and working in Los Angeles. Kennedy is the author of Parental Discretion Is Advised, The Rise of N.W.A and the Dawn of Gangsta Rap and the forthcoming Didn’t We Almost Have It All, an exploration of the life and career of Whitney Houston. His writing has appeared in GQ, Wall Street Journal Magazine, Men’s Health, NPR Music, Spin, Playboy, Teen Vogue, Shondaland, Cultured Magazine and the Los Angeles Times

Gerrick D. Kennedy is a former staff writer for the Los Angeles Times. He covered music and pop culture from 2009 to 2019. In 2012, Kennedy was named Emerging Journalist of the Year by the National Assn. of Black Journalists and in 2014 the Advocate featured him in its annual 40 Under 40 list.
