Introducing Monica Drake, New Deputy Managing Editor of The New York Times

Monica Drake, The New York Times' New Deputy Managing Editor

Monica is a natural choice to lead this work. She helped design the Culture and Careers department in the first place as a co-author of our D.E.I. action plan. In the years since, she has continued to be closely involved in seeing through its recommendations. In addition to her journalistic and strategic strengths, many colleagues know Monica as a mentor and adviser who is trusted, committed equally to The New York Times and the people who make it what it is.

In her expanded role Monica will join the senior masthead to oversee and advance these efforts, and she will soon name a new head of Culture and Careers who will manage the day-to-day work of the team.
