New York Magazine has 13 Editorial Roles Open Now!

Curbed, New York Magazine’s pioneering site covering real estate, architecture, design, and urbanism,  is looking for an experienced Senior Editor who is deeply familiar with the workings of New York City. This person will edit daily blogs and features, generate incisive story and package ideas, and work with our freelance network to build an outstanding site for city news and commentary. 

Edit short daily news stories and features about architecture, design, NYC real estate, and urbanism, working across both print and digital

Generate assignments for news, commentary, and features with staff and freelancers

Oversee a team of 1-2 staff writers

Help ideate and execute special packages and projects

Work with other editors at Curbed and across New York Magazine to coordinate visuals, social media, and communication for big feature stories 

Write quick hits and occasional features/longform as time allows

At least 5-7 years of experience as an editor, ideally covering NYC, real estate, neighborhoods, shelter, or design

A record of developing ambitious stories and packages around timely events and evergreen subjects 

Experience managing staff writers and recruiting/working with a pool of freelancers 

A passion for big picture thinking as well as rigorous and sharp line editing

A clear perspective, with distinct style and voice

A deep knowledge of New York City and its inner workings

A collaborative attitude and willingness to be an active member of our small team  

Ability to balance multiple projects and keep them on track
