Introducing The New Senior Culture Editor of Shondaland, Mariel Turner
Mariel Turner's career began as a high school senior, when she interned in her hometown of Detroit at the NBC affiliate WDIV. During her time there she assisted on the lifestyle and fashion website, Angela's Eye, and helped to cover major events in the city of Detroit.
Today, the 31-year-old is the senior culture editor and IGTV host at Shondaland.com, covering entertainment in Los Angeles. Mariel has had the privilege to report on women's issues in Johannesburg, South Africa, work as an on-air contributor on the Reelz Channel, interview a host of celebrities--including Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, Kelly Rowland, Sterling K. Brown and Nicole Kidman--and cover the 2016 Presidential Election, the Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, SAG Awards, Critics' Choice Awards and the Oscars.

In her free time Mariel enjoys traveling, reading, binge-watching the latest Netflix show and all things Beyoncé. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
