Stylists Suite Does NYFW 2025

Here’s what else has captured my attention this week during NYFW from Nina Parker's debut under Harlem Fashion Week to the launch of the Fashion Alliance Network that has everyone mentoring the next generation of fashion professionals — and yes, plenty more about the rising Black talents reshaping the industry.

Dear Stylists Suite News Subscriber;

After a decade away from the front rows, I’ve returned to New York Fashion Week with new eyes and a renewed energy for fashion journalism. Ten years ago, my coverage of NYFW was fueled by the rush of the runway and the camaraderie of editors sprinting between shows. This time, it was different. Through my Instagram stories and Facebook updates, you’ve seen me marvel at the shifts: the rise of New designers owning their narratives, the increased visibility of natural hair and darker complexions on the catwalk, and the unapologetic presence of culture as fashion’s loudest statement.

What struck me most is how fashion is no longer afraid to wrestle with identity, representation, and politics in real time. Designers like Edwing D’Angelo continue to shine as avatars of Afro-Latin pride, while Harlem Fashion Week spotlights the next generation of innovators rewriting what American fashion looks like — and who it’s for. From models breaking the mold with curvier frames to Black-owned beauty brands partnering backstage, this season affirmed what I’ve been saying on my feeds: representation is no longer the exception, it’s the expectation.

For me, the return was personal. Standing on sidewalks outside Spring Studios, iPhone in hand, documenting street style from young Black creatives hustling for their shot, I felt the same spark that first pulled me into this industry. But there’s also a maturity now an awareness that platforms like mine exist to amplify underrepresented voices and connect fashion to the wider cultural conversations happening beyond the runway.

New York delivered more than clothes this season; it delivered culture, resilience, and a bold reminder that fashion is most powerful when it reflects the people and communities who give it meaning. And this is only the beginning of my next chapter covering it.

Here’s what else has captured my attention this week from Nina Parker's debut under Harlem Fashion Week to the launch of the Fashion Alliance Network that has everyone mentoring the next generation of fashion professionals — and yes, plenty more about the rising Black talents reshaping the industry.
