Darralynn Hutson here, and I’m feeling the chilly breeze of fall coming. With September coming, we’re focused on back to school and fashion week; newly posted pitch calls, new leaders at our favorite magazines, and September chances to share your story.

Hey, Stylists Suite family; Not sure if it’s getting chilly where you are but here in Detroit, it feels like the summer is officially over. But don’t fret; as we move into the fall, we’re more focused on combing the internet for editors on the hunt, editors on the move, events that are opening credentials and our NEW section called “Editors OPEN.”

EDITORS ON THE HUNT 

This week, a few of the top tier media outlets have shared on their social channels that they’re seeking some new story  ideas and paying nice fees for those stories.  innovative ideas. Send your pitch or client idea this week and make sure to reference that you said it on Stylists Suite Newsletter.

NEW YORK TIMES “ WIRECUTTER” IS LOOKING FOR PITCHES  

Jason Chen, editorial director, seeks writers to create, report, and write pieces, odes, and how-tos on the products the magazine has already covered. They don’t accept long-form reviews, but they’re always open to freelance writers with high-level expertise who provide guides and updates. 

Pay: $400-1,000 depending on the assignment

KNEEDEEP TIMES IS LOOKING FOR PITCHES

Ariel Rubissow Okamoto, Managing Editor of Knee Deep Times. Welcome submissions on climate resilience, focusing on the San Francisco Bay Area but open to California and beyond. Preferred lengths are 500 or 1000 words, with payment up to $1/word. They also pay $100 for the Picture of the Month, art, and film. Currently seeking profiles of change-makers and portraits of small towns facing climate challenges.
