Transitions highlight issues and trends shaping Central and Eastern Europe, Southeastern Europe, and Eurasia – with a special emphasis on solutions journalism.
What they asked for: Reported features, photo essays, video/multimedia about the Balkans (deadline listed in Nov; commissioning rates noted).

MIT TECHNOLOGY REVIEW NEEDS NARRATIVE FEATURES AND LONG PIECES ON NATURE
MIT Technology Review is seeking pitches for an upcoming print issue. The theme is Nature.
“We're looking for pitches for longer pieces: narrative features, compelling investigations, essential profiles, and super-sharp essays, all with a technology angle. This call for pitches is aimed at journalists, but if you're an expert with a strong idea, please don't hesitate to reach out. Please note we cast a wide net with these themes. With Nature, we're not only looking for stories about ecology and ecosystems, flora and fauna, but about a range of topics related to the natural world and/or the nature of our world. That could include, for example, a physics story. Or something involving human nature.”
Pay rate: $1.50 per word for Reported Pieces an d 1$ per word for personal essays.
