Bon Appetit is Seeking a Senior Editor to Oversee BA’s Digital Cooking Section

In this role, a senior cooking editor will work with the Bon Appetit test kitchen and editorial leadership to shape the vision for cooking stories and packages. Sharp candidates will have a strong editorial point of view, culinary experience, and experience assigning stories and shaping them at every stage of the editing process.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee digital cooking coverage for Bon Appétit
• Generate story ideas for and assign, write, and edit cooking stories and packages across the BA network
• Conceptualize how recipes and stories might live across all editorial facets of the brand (digital, print, social, podcast, video, etc), and contribute across platforms and social channels as needed
• Connect and develop new relationships with writers; mentor and foster talent across the Bon Appétit team; work with freelancers, including assigning and editing content and onboarding them into our systems
• Edit newsletters, commerce content, and recipe galleries
• Guide and work within the Bon Appétit editorial calendar to map out deadlines and content flow
• Work with audience development, social, and Bon Appétit leadership to adhere to and continue to hone editorial strategy; work across departments to ensure deadlines and KPIs are met
• Participate in podcast, video, events, and other cross-brand initiatives as necessary

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• 6+ years experience writing and editing, ideally in journalism, writing, or related fields
• Strong demonstrated culinary knowledge
• Sound editorial judgement; stellar writing and editing skills
• Organized, detail-oriented, able to adhere to tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities and projects
• Ability to communicate well with people across departments (Art, Social, Test Kitchen), and at all levels of brand
• A thoughtful, inclusive approach to assigning and editing content
• Experience working in digital media, including familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and writing headlines
• Understanding of editorial strategy best practices, including SEO
