The BuzzFeed News' Deputy Inequality Editor Has Been Promoted To Managing Editor
Jamilah King was a Deputy Inequality Editor at BuzzFeed News. Before that, she was the Newsroom Development Editor at Mother Jones, where she spent lots of time thinking about how to best distribute and support storytelling opportunities across the newsroom. For most of her time at Mother Jones, she was the race and justice reporter, where she focused on how Black women engaged with political power, and wrote early profiles on Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrams and Lucy McBath. Her profile of Oakland housing activist Carroll Fife was nominated for a National Magazine Award.
Jamilah is a Cali kid, born and raised in San Francisco.
