BrownStyle's Editor in Chief: Tweety Elitou's Impactful Soft Life

Tweety Elitou's Impactful Soft Life
I first met Tweety Elitou in her role as a journalist for BET.com. Her vibrant storytelling and dedication to amplifying Black culture immediately stood out. In 2021, I had the privilege of visiting Philadelphia, where I got the chance to meet her sisters and her family of fellow journalists. It was such a inspiring experience that deepened my admiration for her roots in storytelling.
But it wasn’t until later that I truly saw the breadth of Tweety’s independence and creativity. She went on to co-found BrownStyle magazine, a platform dedicated to celebrating Black style and culture. Through BrownStyle, Tweety has carved out a unique space in the media landscape.
Another aspect of Tweety that I admire is her advocacy for living a “soft life.” Her advice on embracing ease, self-care, and intentionality in our daily lives has resonated deeply with many, including me.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Tweety to discuss her journey, her insights on balancing independence with creativity, and what living a soft life truly means to her.
