Meredith Seeks a Senior Editor who will join a central team of writers, editors, and producers that create performance driven content across Meredith brands
The team is focused on eCommerce content and branded performance content, and now working to build out a performance content division dedicated to lead generation content. Meredith is looking for an experienced editor to lead this performance marketing/lead gen content.
The Senior Editor must be passionate about editing, writing, and performance content. Experience in lead generation content is desired although not required if there is a strong editorial background with an interest in performance marketing. This person must have experience with SEO and content strategy (i.e. pitch approvals, analyzing performance and data) and the ability to juggle multiple style guides and brand voices. You must be a strong multitasker who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate also has experience managing employees as this role will have four direct reports.
Essential Job Functions
- Edit performance content coming in from the centralized content team including freelance content
- Identify and carry out lead generation content opportunities within home products and services, moving & real estate, health & fitness (including senior care), streaming, pregnancy, pets, insurance and finance
- Use data and analytics to brainstorm and guide editorial decisions
- Collaborate with editors across the entire Meredith portfolio, and various members of the performance content team including strategy and business development, to increase promotion and revenue on our lead gen content
- Work with the SEO team and MPM team (Meredith Performance Marketing) in identifying content areas and new partners
- Manage writers, a mid-level editor, and a production manager to aid in growing our performance content business
- Manage the Performance Content editorial calendar
- Manage communication with content partners and help own those relationships (including improving processes and workflow when needed)
- Attend weekly meetings
- Write performance content when time permits
Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or related field
- 6+ years experience as a writer and editor for an online publisher. Experience in performance content strongly desired.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must haves:
- Comfortable working in a fast paced and matrixed organization
- A strong editor well versed in a variety of topics/product categories; experience writing and editing lead generation content is a plus
- Familiar with the Meredith portfolio, and able to adapt to numerous brand voices and writing styles
- Familiar with digital media tools such as CMS (WordPress) and Google Analytics
- Very familiar with SEO best practices
- Comfortable with data or willing to learn
- Experience managing employees

The Branded Content Writer will join a central team of writers and editors that create ecommerce content across many Meredith brands: Real Simple, People, InStyle, Shape, Travel + Leisure, Better Homes & Gardens, and more. This role is responsible for writing ecommerce branded content that is editorially on-brand and meets the clients’ requirements.
They will work directly with the Branded Content Editor and Campaign Managers and be responsible for writing all branded content that’s sold by the Ecommerce team. This person should be a skilled writer who has experience creating branded performance content in the ecommerce space and is able to adapt to numerous brand voices and styles. The content should be strong, editorially sound content that converts and engages consumers.

- Write most branded content articles for the ecommerce team
- Brainstorm editorial pitches for branded content campaigns
- Collaborate closely with the Campaign Managers, ensuring that all timelines and deliverables are met

- Use data and analytics to brainstorm and guide content decisions
- Attend branded content meetings
- Attend internal kick-off calls to discuss upcoming campaigns
- Collaborate with ecommerce editorial writers and editors, and various members of the larger affiliate team
- Assist the e-commerce team on larger scale initiatives such as Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day, and write non-branded eCommerce content when time permits
