The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) has a consultant position open for a Project Coordinator for the Black Press Grant funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. The position will run from Aug. 23 through Dec. 31, 2021.
The coordinator will work with the Project Manager and NABJ staff to edit and deliver approved stories told from a Black perspective about how the Black community continues to be impacted by COVID and other health issues.
Grants have been awarded to 28 applicants. Half of the approved grant money has been distributed to the applicants. All work must be published by Dec. 1, 2021, with the organization listed in their approved grant application for the awardees to receive the second half of the grant.
The project coordinator will review their timelines for the publication of stories, videos, or audio presentations. The project coordinator will manage ongoing communications with the grantees and their delivery of the work products. The coordinator will edit the product to confirm the stories are up to high journalistic standards and ready for dissemination on NABJ Media Network and other platforms. The coordinator will also write assigned news releases for the project.
The salary for the position will be $2,222.22 for four months.
