AFAR MAGAZINE SEEKS FREELANCE WRITERS
AFAR is always on the lookout for great stories that fit into travel storytelling. Instead of more traditional aspirational lifestyle travel stories, AFAR seeks to tell the stories of places and the people who live there. They only publish 4 times a year, so plan ahead.
For feature stories, photo essays, and personal essays: AFAR is looking for richly reported stories that evoke a sense of place, inspire wanderlust, and ideally teach the reader something new about the world.
Feature stories typically run 1,500–2,500 words, though we are open to considering stories that are shorter or longer.
