Bustle Has New Opening For Lifestyle Writer

Bustle is Seeking a Temporary, Remote Writer to Cover Trending Lifestyle News and Service For Its Life Vertical

Day-to-day responsibilities include pitching and writing tech and viral articles on tight deadlines. The candidate will also occasionally write second-day service stories after major news events. Examples of the kinds of articles you’d work on include this story about a TikTok-viral recipe, this one on how to use new iOS16 features, and this service story on how to fight for reproductive rights. There will also be opportunities to write longer lead stories about topics like social media and technology.

The ideal candidate is TikTok-obsessed and up to date on the latest digital trends and news events. Candidates must also be creative, familiar with Bustle's voice, and able to produce high-quality, accurate copy in a fast-paced environment. Stories may require the writer to find sources and conduct phone and email interviews. A network of industry contacts and go-to experts is a plus.

Candidates must have availability to work up to 28 hours per week during business hours, ET. The writer will work remotely and communicate with lifestyle editors while online.

Responsibilities

Write 2-3 stories per shift comprising a mix of pitches and assignments
Stay up-to-date on the latest viral news and trends
Manage ongoing assignments, including conducting interviews and follow-up reporting
