Shanita Hubbard, MadameNoire's New Managing Editor
Shanita Hubbard is the Managing Editor for MadameNoire, a former therapist of six years, a Soros Justice Fellow, and award winning author of the book “Ride-or-Die: A Feminist Manifesto for the Well-Being of Black Women. Her work has been published in New York Times, The Huffington Post, The Guardian, The Washington Post, ESSENCE, ELL Magazine, and a host of other publications.
Hubbard’s writing has helped foster complex discourse around intracommunity sexual violence, abuse within the hip-hop community, mass incarceration and the complicated relationship between Black women and hip-hop. Hubbard is also featured as an expert in the “On The Record” documentary on HBO Max as well as the “Queen of Rap” documentary airing in London, England. She obtained a MSCJ from Bowling Green State University and BSCJ from Morris College where she also became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. She is most proud of her title as the mother of an amazing Black girl.
