Marie Claire is Looking For Staff Writer to Contribute Content Across All Verticals

Marie Claire is looking for a staff writer to contribute content across all verticals, including celebrity news, politics, culture, books, wellness, and more. The staff writer will write news articles and original service content; update existing content; and support senior team members by contributing research, conducting fact-checking, attending desksides and press events, assisting with beauty and fashion samples, filing expenses, and more. Reporting to the executive managing editor of Marie Claire, the staff writer will work closely with her, in addition to the director of content strategy and the social media editor, to execute projects that support the brand’s traffic goals, e-commerce revenue, and features.

The ideal candidate is a diligent reporter and captivating writer who has a wide breadth of interests and is always ready for a challenge—whether that’s penning a quick celebrity news post, pitching trend-setting tastemakers for a franchise, recommending products to readers through our buying guides, or brainstorming big ideas for a feature package. This person thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and is constantly striving to help the brand exceed its goals.

  • Pitch and write stories in lifestyle vertical (which includes books, wellness, home, travel, and more), including buying guides and franchise subjects
  • Contribute to the politics, celebrity, and culture verticals—for example, writing search-driven stories in the run-up to the midterms, whipping up a celebrity news post, or writing explainers about the latest hit TV show
  • Conduct research or fact-checking for senior editors on stories across verticals as needed—for example, interviewing subjects or transcribing interviews, or attending desksides or press events
  • Assist social media editor in creation of newsletter and execution of social media strategy
  • Execute occasional administrative duties for the Editor in Chief, Executive Managing Editor, and Director of Content Strategy

  • Excellent reporting and writing skills
  • Interest in women’s lifestyle content and an eye for how these topics appeal to the Marie Claire reader specifically
  • Experience in working in a CMS
  • Knowledge of and interest in data, including what terms and themes will drive traffic and engagement
  • Great at creative problem solving
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
