SheKnows.com Hiring Entertainment Writer

SheKnows.com is hiring an Entertainment Writer to join team in New York, working closely with the Entertainment Editor and Deputy Editor to lead coverage of breaking celebrity news that resonates with an audience of moms and women in general. The ideal candidate should thrive under tight deadlines and have a demonstrated ability to quickly produce engaging high-quality entertainment news content. They should be pop culture obsessives who are up to date on everything from the royal family to classic ‘90s rom-coms to Kim Kardashian & Pete Davidson and be able to comment on any of those with wit and an original point of view.

The Entertainment Writer will be responsible for writing 4-6 stories a day, a combination of news stories, galleries, and refreshes to evergreen content, as well as taking on celebrity interviews and pitching monthly calendar ideas. A talent for sniffing out stories and identifying unique angles that align with parenting-focused, pro-women brand and voice is critical.

Responsibility:

• Pitch and write 4-6 entertainment stories a day, a combination of trending news, galleries, e-commerce stories, and evergreen content updates
• Provide real-time coverage of all major awards shows and entertainment events
• Seek out & take on celebrity interviews and profiles
• Assist in tracking new releases and pitching monthly content calendar ideas
• Use SEO and analytics to inform pitches and ensure Entertainment vertical meets monthly traffic goals
• Represent SheKnows at events when appropriate

Requirements:

• 2-3 years of editorial experience at a major digital media company
• The ability to react to trending news quickly and package stories in a way that feels original, on-brand, and tailored to the audience
• Experience self-publishing and working directly in a CMS
• Well-versed in digital strategy, analytics, and SEO
• Performs under high-pressure, fast-paced conditions, and works well both independently and collaboratively
• An obsession with celebrity and entertainment news
