Bon Appétit is Looking For a Full-Time Assistant Editor to Join Their Food-Obsessed Staff

The ideal candidate must be able to pitch and produce dynamic content, edit text, and help other editors create stories across platforms. This person will be an integral part of the edit team, with an emphasis on the print magazine.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Writing anything from a blurb for the Table of Contents to a sidebar for a recipe story to an article on the website
• Editing front-of-book stories and some feature stories for the print magazine
• Pitching, researching, and executing on ideas across all editorial facets of the brand (print, digital, social, podcast, video, etc.)
• Calling in and returning product for market stories
• Supporting the editorial team with administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings, shipping packages, and transcribing interviews
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Sound editorial judgment; stellar writing skills
• Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to adhere to tight deadlines
• Ability to communicate well with people across departments (Art, Photo, Test Kitchen), and at all levels of brand
• Food expertise is not a prerequisite, but an interest in food—whether that’s cooking, eating, the restaurant industry, the socio-economic issues surrounding food etc.—is a must
• Knowledge of K4 a plus
• 1-3 years experience in journalism, writing, or related fields
